Magic Kingdom’s Sweetly Hidden Gem

Mickey MacaroonCan you say “YUM”?

If you’ve read my blog before, than you probably know I’m a HUGE fan of Disney-Inspired treats.  Well I just have to share with you my latest discovery while walking around The Magic Kingdom last week, the strawberry Mickey Mouse Macaroon!  You’re probably wondering where I found this “Minnie”-ature treat.  It was tucked away in the heart of a gift shop I had visited before and simply never noticed the creative station right in the middle of the store.  This little gem was just one of MANY themed treats ready for guests to enjoy.  From cake pops, to apples, to brownies and cookies, every one was sprinkled with Disney magic for eating.

Today I’m blogging about this special location over at “The Disney Moms” blog.  I’d love for you to stop by, read all about my discovery and see photos of what treats this spot has to offer.

Here’s a glimpse!

Disney Christmas Cookies

Christmas Sugar CookiesDo you participate in a Cookie Exchange?

Each year when the cookie exchange invitation arrives, I quickly reply YES.  My cookie of choice is always the sugar cookie.  The empty palate that each cookie presents is exciting to me and I start my first batch eager to create a little masterpiece.

Gwynn's bday and cookies 033

This year I decided to theme my cookies after my family’s Christmas tree,

A Disney Christmas Tree!

Christmas Tree 002OK, here’s the disclaimer part: I am in no way a baker (I roll out premade tubes).  And I’m absolutely NOT a schooled decorator.

My cookie decorating ideas really are simply fabulous in my head.  It’s just trying to put them on the cookies that’s the problem!  Oh well, I try.  Each year upon finishing my first dozen cookies I vow to never pick the sugar cookie again.  As you can see, I didn’t listen to myself.

Gwynn's bday and cookies 044These are the two designs for my little Christmas tree cut out cookies.  The cookie on the right represents our Christmas trees ten years ago.  I had a beautiful Mickey Mouse tree topper that we used each year until our children were born.  Unfortunately it broke shortly after Gavin’s birth.  The cookie on the left represents our tree of today.  Mickey Mouse and various other Disney themed ornaments blanket the tree with memories.

Cookies, friends, and drinks- it’s a wonderful combination!

Every year I participate in the cookie exchange with a group of about 20 fantastically fun women.  The gathering isn’t so much about the cookies, although they’re yummy. It’s sincerely a few hours out of our busy holiday schedules away from our husbands and children to celebrate our precious friendships with women that are most special in our lives.  Women that we go to for support, encouragement, and sometimes a glass of wine.  If you haven’t participated in a cookie exchange party, consider hosting one.  I guarantee it will become an annual tradition that all of your friends look forward to attending!

I’d love to hear what cookies you’ve made for your cookie exchange.  Are they sprinkled with a touch of Disney?  Please share them in the comments below!

Disney Lego Duplo Party

lego set 005Ready, Set, Play!

Yesterday I was thrilled to be able to host a Disney Lego Duplo party for the companies House Party and Lego.  Lego provided me with their newest Duplo lines, which happen to be Disney themed sets!  How exciting it was when a huge box arrived at our home just a little over a week ago.  I have to admit, my kids and I felt like it was Christmas.  Inside the box we found six Duplo sets, three of the sets were themed Disney Planes and three sets were themed Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  In exchange for the Legos, I had to throw a Disney Lego Duplo play date party for all of our friends to play with them.  Can you imagine?  Me, throw a Disney themed party?  Just give me a reason and bring on the yummy party treats and warm up the glue gun!

Today, I’m excited to share with you some photos of our Disney themed Lego Duplo play date.  Lego 001

Welcome Sign

House Party provided me with an 8.5″ x 11″ digital file to print out as a sign to welcome our guests.  Featuring Dusty and Jake, the sign was adorable, but the simple print needed to be spruced up a bit.  I taped the paper onto foam core and hot glued Lego Duplo bricks around the edges.  To hang the sign, I hot glued a red ribbon to the back of the foam core.

Snack Table

The little Disney Junior fans munched on Bucky’s cannon ball grapes, Izzie’s pixie dusted apple sauce pouches, Jake’s gold doubloon cookies and chocolates, Skully’s crackers and cheese, Jake and the Neverland Pirates fruit snacks and Lego Duplo themed rice treats.

Dusty’s Fuel Up Drink Station

I have to admit Dusty’s Fuel Up Drink Station signage was fun to make.  My two-year old and six-year-old helped me build the “Fuel” letters the night before the party.

Lego Party 047Play Time!

In addition to the six play sets, Disney sent us Jake’s latest movie to watch while the kids played, Jake and the Never Land Pirates Never Land Rescue.  I think from this photo you can tell the kids were entertained!  Lego Duplo bricks are specially designed for children ages 1 and a half to five years old.  Many of the toddlers and preschoolers invited to the party had older siblings, so when planning for the party I designated a separate room for the “big kids” to play with age appropriate Lego bricks.  As you can see from the photos, the big kids loved Lego Duplo bricks as much as the little kids!

Lego Party 042

One of the cool things that the moms discovered during the party was that older siblings very happily helped their younger siblings build the sets, with no adult help or fighting.  There were 19 children at the party and it was great to see them all play together so nicely.

The kids were so proud to show off their finished pieces.

Lego Party 060Once the sets were complete, they broke the bricks down and started creating again!

Lego Party 026From toddling around, to playing with bricks, to fashioning a crown, the littlest ones enjoyed the day too.

Party Favors

Lego Party 019

I was provided with 12 sticker sheets and 12 Lego Duplo Planes posters to hand out to the children at the party.  Unfortunately, that was not enough to give one to each child, so I decided to give the big kids the posters and the little kids stickers.  I also made each child between the ages of 1 and 5 years old a customized Lego Duplo brick set.  The small set consisted of enough bricks to make the child’s first initial of his or her name.

Lego Party

Before the party ended, I attempted to get a group shot of all our Disney Lego lovers.  Unfortunately, a few could not be persuaded to leave the Legos for a picture. I’m sure you understand their reasoning.

Thank you to Lego and House Party for a fantastic day of fun!

Tomorrow on the blog I’ll share a quick tutorial for Lego themed treats.  There wasn’t a single one left by the end of the party!

If you are considering purchasing these Duplo brick sets for Christmas, you should stop by again.  On Wednesday I’ll share my review of the Disney Planes and Jake and the Never Land Pirates Disney Duplo brick sets.

I hope everyone enjoys this special Monday.  If you’re visiting Disney today make sure you tell Mickey Mouse Happy Birthday!

Walt Disney World Party with Free Printables

Disney PartyDuring this first week of November I give THANKS for being able to share my love of Disney with others.

From the age of six I fell in love with The Walt Disney Company.  Everything the company stands for whispers, “Dream.  Create.  Explore”.  Being a dreamer, I made it my goal in first grade to one day “live” at Disney.  Thirty years later, I’m so incredibly thankful for my time that I worked in Disney’s parks and stores. I’m thankful for the time that I was allowed to live out my dream and for the time I was able to create magical memories for others.  I’m thankful for my little Disney-Inspired blog and for meeting others as passionate about Disney as my family and I.  Most importantly, I’m thankful that I am able to share my passion with those that matter most, my family.

About three years ago I applied to be a member of The Disney Moms Panel.  Unfortunately I wasn’t selected, but was sent an awesome Walt Disney World party packet in the mail.  Excited to share all my new goodies, I threw an impromptu WDW party.  I invited my cousins and their young children, in addition to my best friend with her two little Mouseketeers.  What fun we had!  The kids played Walt Disney World Bingo, had a Mickey Vinylmation coloring contest, made a Disney wish maker and played Disney trivia.  If you LOVE Walt Disney World or are planning a soon to be vacation to the Mouse’s house, check out this site.  You can print out the same Disney trivia questions, Disney wish makers, and Walt Disney World Bingo that I used in my party and throw an impromptu party yourself!

Disney Easter Disney Birthday 263Everyone wore a set of Mouse Ears, even our littlest Mouseketeer!

Disney Easter Disney Birthday 277The Mickey Mouse Vinylmation coloring sheet was given to my son at Downtown Disney’s West Side in the store D StreetWe took it home and made a bunch of copies.  Aren’t they such creative little guys?

The kids had a great time.  Walt Disney World Bingo was everyone’s favorite part of the party and surprisingly some kids even watched a Walt Disney World Vacation Planning video!  Can you imagine them sitting there with their little Mouse ears on?  It was super cute.

Are you thankful for the way The Walt Disney Company has touched your life?  I’d love to hear about it!
